Uses a rights-based and gender-sensitive approach Plays a catalytic role in supporting federal, state and local governments in identifying key bottlenecks that hinder realization of the rights of disadvantaged children, supported by equity-focused, inclusive advocacy, planning, action and monitoring at all levels. Purpose For The Job
- The information Management Officer will provide support to UNICEF, Maiduguri field office primarily on WASH and Education data, evidence generation and knowledge management, which will assist in advancing these programmes while also building connections between development and emergency programmes. Strong information management carried out in support of coordination and operation processes will support development programming and relevant humanitarian actors to work with the same or complementary information and baseline data when making decisions. Properly collected and managed data for development and emergencies can furthermore support early recovery, resilience and disaster preparedness activities. Information Management (IM) is therefore a critical intervention in supporting timely evidence-based decision making in the specific programme section/sector
Key Functions, Accountabilities And Related Duties/tasks
- Develop regular IM products and support the development of key reports/presentations
- Provide support and build capacities of Sector Line Ministries and Coordinators.
- Validate and document PiN (People in Need), CiN (Children in Need), HAC and UNICEF targeting methodology for Maiduguri Field Office
- Update and enhance the MENA Humanitarian Data Repository
- Perform any other tasks as required by the supervisor and/or Managemen
Minimum Requirements
- Education: A university degree in one of the following fields is required: Information Management or Information Systems, development planning, evaluation, survey implementation, GIS Information Technologies, Computer Science, Statistics, Social Sciences or another subject area relevant to Information Management. Advanced university degree are considered an added advantage
- Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in programme planning, monitoring, data management, and/or research in education is required.
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language(Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba) is an asset.
