Job Summary
The IT Officer is responsible for maintaining, securing, and optimising the hospital’s IT infrastructure to support uninterrupted clinical and administrative operations. The role requires a hands-on professional who provides technical support to staff, manages networks and systems, ensures data security, and supports hospital applications in compliance with healthcare regulations and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
IT Infrastructure & Systems Management
- Maintain and monitor the hospital’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, workstations, and peripherals.
- Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of IT systems.
- Install, configure, and upgrade hardware, software, and operating systems.
Network & Security Management
- Manage local area networks (LAN), wireless networks, and internet connectivity.
- Implement and monitor cybersecurity measures to protect hospital data and systems.
- Perform regular system backups and ensure disaster recovery plans are in place.
- Enforce access controls, user permissions, and password management policies.
Technical Support & Helpdesk
- Provide timely first- and second-level technical support to clinical and administrative staff.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, and system issues.
- Support hospital systems such as Electronic Medical Records (EMR), billing systems, and clinical applications.
- Maintain IT service logs and track issue resolution timelines.
Healthcare Systems & Compliance
- Support IT systems in line with healthcare data protection and confidentiality requirements.
- Ensure compliance with internal IT policies and relevant regulatory standards.
- Support audits, accreditation processes, and system documentation as required.
Vendor & Asset Management
- Liaise with IT vendors, service providers, and external support partners.
- Manage IT assets, including inventory, licensing, and lifecycle tracking.
- Support procurement and installation of new IT equipment and solutions.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Identify opportunities to improve IT processes, efficiency, and system performance.
- Support digitisation initiatives and technology-driven process improvements.
- Stay current with emerging technologies relevant to healthcare delivery.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in IT support or systems administration
- Experience in a healthcare or regulated environment is an advantage
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco) are an added advantage.
