The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is the state oil corporation which was established on April 1, 1977. In addition to its exploration activities, the Corporation was given powers and operational interests in refining, petrochemicals and products transportation as well as marketing. Between 1978 and 1989, NNPC constructed refineries in Warri, Kaduna and Port Harcourt and took over the 35,000-barrel Shell Refinery established in Port Harcourt in 1965. In 1988, the NNPC was commercialised into 12 strategic business units, covering the entire spectrum of oil industry operations: exploration and production, gas development, refining, distribution, petrochemicals, engineering, and commercial investments. Objectives
Ensures requests for IT services are appropriately routed to the respective delivery teams and followed through to fulfilment while providing 1st Level support to the IT user community. Also manage IT Assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to incoming queries and issues related to computer systems based on the Help Desk policy.
- Provide and communicate workarounds to customer and NUIMS team.
- Provide feedback to user and close issues upon successful resolution of issue.
- Respond to reported NUIMS incidents and service requests.
- Register and update the client data in the system.
- Run diagnostic clean-up of programs to resolve problems.
- Solve problems related to user access to NUIMS system.
- Identify service requests raised by users.
- Gain feedback from customers about computer usage.
- Train computer users, log, categorize and prioritize issues, incidents and service requests.
- Negotiate request with requesting users and identified responsible persons.
- Take responsibility for incidents until they are resolved; provide statistics and reports to management team.
- Manage IT infrastructure Vendor and SLA.
- Provide full hardware support to the business functions of NUIMS that includes installation, helpdesk, training and maintenance of hardware system, consolidating and optimising the NUIMS support services.
- Provide timely and quality reports on the activities of the Unit to DM, IT Asset Mgmt. & Services.
Educational Qualification
- Degree in Electronics/IT, Computer Science or any related field
- Relevant professional certifications will be an added advantage
Competence
- Skilled in Network Infrastructure Management (Cisco routers, PIX and Nokia firewall, switches and other network equipment)
- Knowledge of Network Design and Configuration
- Knowledge of Network support and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of Network/System performance reporting
- Knowledge of Active Directory Design and Administration
- Results Oriented Skill
Experience
- Minimum of 9 years relevant post qualification experience
- Experience in the oil and gas industry will be an added advantage.
