Our African heritage and culture is rich in tradition, colour and excitement, but due to westernisation young people are rapidly losing touch with the African culture and heritage especially our life styles. This is why I started a company called African Things to bring African inspired products to our everyday living; a fusion with contemporary style. African Things is a design and production company that designs and produces African inspired products focusing on fashion accessories and functional utility products using African fabric and materials. We supply wholesale to large retail stores such as Mega plaza, Prince Ebeano supermarket, and Jumia. We also supply to tourist shops in hotels such as Eko hotel and Four point. We manufacture from a variety of factories based here in Nigeria. Over time, we also aim to set up our own factory thereby creating jobs and wealth creation. With the company Facebook page, www.facebook.com/africanthings, African things has been able to generate support; by boosting our products to our target groups we have been able to get over 2000 likes and counting, mostly youths between the ages of 16 -35 from all over the world; UK, America, even China. African Things aims to change the negative image associated with Africa manufacture and be a symbol for high quality products while empowering Africans. What make African Things unique is that it is a design and manufacturing company based in Africa producing goods that we aim to have in every household in Africa.

- We are looking for a creative and results-driven Marketing & Branding Specialist to take our brand to the next level.
- This role is perfect for someone who can blend storytelling, digital marketing, and data-driven strategies to enhance brand awareness, drive sales, and create engaging content.
- You will be responsible for developing and executing marketing campaigns, managing social media, overseeing branding efforts, and ensuring our message resonates with our target audience.
Key Responsibilities
Branding & Strategy:
- Develop and maintain a strong and consistent brand identity across all platforms.
- Create marketing strategies that align with African Things’ mission and vision to position us as a leader in African-inspired gifts.
- Ensure all marketing materials reflect our brand voice, aesthetic, and values.
- Conduct competitor and market analysis to refine branding and positioning.
Content Creation & Social Media Management:
- Develop compelling and engaging content for social media, websites, blogs, email marketing, and ad campaigns.
- Manage and grow African Things’ presence on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Etsy.
- Schedule posts, monitor engagement, and interact with our audience to foster a strong online community.
- Work with designers and content creators to produce high-quality visuals and videos.
Advertising & Digital Marketing:
- Plan and execute paid digital campaigns on social media and search engines.
- Track and analyze campaign performance, using insights to optimize future efforts.
- Develop and implement an email marketing strategy to nurture leads and drive conversions.
- Explore affiliate and influencer marketing opportunities to expand brand reach.
Sales & Customer Engagement:
- Support the sales team by developing marketing materials and promotional strategies.
- Work closely with the Etsy team to optimize product listings, run promotions, and drive international sales.
- Create and execute campaigns targeting corporate gifting clients.
Performance Tracking & Reporting:
- Use Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, and other tools to measure and report on marketing performance.
- Track key metrics such as engagement rates, conversion rates, and sales impact.
- Adjust marketing strategies based on data insights to maximize ROI.
