Job Description
- The Network Administrator will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimising AMCE’s network infrastructure to ensure high levels of availability, security, and efficiency.
- The role holder will also manage the connectivity of IT systems related to data, voice, calls, video, and wireless network services and ensure that the communication and operations within AMCE run smoothly and securely.
Responsibilities
Network Design and Implementation:
- Develop, document, and maintain network architecture diagrams, including logical and physical network diagrams.
- Plan and design network infrastructure to meet current and future business needs, considering factors such as scalability, security, and performance.
- Install, configure, and test network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points.
- Integrate network infrastructure with other systems, such as servers, storage systems, and security solutions.
Network Infrastructure Management:
- Design, install, and maintain local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and other network infrastructure across AMCE.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement upgrades or changes as needed to improve system efficiency.
- Manage AMCE’s data centre networks, including servers, routers, firewalls, and VPNs, ensuring redundancy and disaster recovery measures are in place.
Security & Compliance:
- Enforce network security protocols and procedures to protect sensitive patient information, in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Perform regular security assessments, vulnerability testing, and risk analyses to identify and address potential threats.
- Maintain updated firewall configurations, antivirus software, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
Network Optimization and Upgrades:
- Optimise AMCE’s network infrastructure to handle high volumes of data from electronic health records (EHR) systems, medical imaging devices, and IoT medical devices.
- Plan and execute network upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations.
User Support and Training:
- Provide technical support to employees for network-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime for healthcare operations.
- Conduct training sessions to educate staff on cybersecurity best practices and responsible use of network resources.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate documentation of the network configuration, change logs, and standard operating procedures.
- Regularly report on network performance, issues, and improvements.
- Work closely with the IT team to coordinate network and system upgrades, repairs and expansion.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or health care technology or a related field.
- A Masters degree is an added advantage
- Minimum of 4 years experience as a network administrator.
- Experience in a healthcare or similar regulated industry will be an added advantage.
- Experience with common protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.
- Solid knowledge of security frameworks such as ISO 27001 for adherence to compliance.
- Familiarity with the healthcare IT Systems and Standards.
- Knowledge of network security best practices and tools.
