Job Objective

As part of the Engineering team, you are responsible for planning, designing, recommending technologies & equipment, implementing making required changes to the WIOCC network within budget and timelines and to the correct level of quality and performance to enable client services, satisfaction and revenue to be maintained and to meet or improve company targets. To be acknowledged as 3rd level technical competence relating to the network.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Network architecture, technology and vendor recommendation, planning and design
  • Network inventory management & planning, including auditing and record management
  • Network procurement/equipment contract management, including budgeting, PO management, Vendor Management
  • Manage, develop Craft Terminal, EMS, NMS and OSS systems, coach and train others
  • Adhere to, lead compliance with and assist in developing company policies and procedures
  • Assist other departments and lead and report on projects as requested by the Program Manager
  • Ad-hoc reporting as requested
  • Ensuring network design aligns with NetSuite as appropriate
  • Deputise for Senior Network Architect as directed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent, masters preferred) in a technical field

Experience & Skills

  • Requires minimum of 5 year of technical experience in the telecom industry with at least 5 years in network engineering, network design role or equivalent
  • Ability to plan, design and oversee network implementation according to WIOCC processes for Fibre, ROADM/DWDM (10/40/100G/200G/400G/600G/800G), OTN, SDH, DCN
  • Knowledge in supporting TX equipment i.e., Tejas Networks, Huawei, Ciena, Infinera, Adva, Huawei etc.
  • Stage, lab, test, install and bring into service equipment, follow standards and coach others to become competent
  • Ability to develop network plans with accuracy and communicate plans to CxO level evidenced by work history and accomplishments
  • Experience and understanding of network synchronisation, performance monitoring, ITU-T standards
  • Quality assurance auditing & testing, manage and mitigate network risk register
  • Optical networking experience including OTDR, optical link budget calculations, fibre types and testing
  • Experience in network management platforms and OSS systems
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills evidenced by work history and accomplishments
  • Excellent communication and soft skills, including the ability to listen to and summarise and
  • concisely share key information
  • Must use B/OSS tools effectively to record information accurately and concisely in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems in a fast-paced environment
