AUN is a completely wireless University, which is highly focused on IT. Computers, the internet and other critical IT facilities are key tools in teaching. These facilities are deployed in classes and completion of course assignments. With great emphasis on small classes, AUN’s main goal is to graduate well-educated and qualified students in both general knowledge and specialized disciplines. Having acquired first class American education right here in Nigeria, AUN students can remain in the country or Africa and contribute as entrepreneurs, corporate business people, government leaders, scientists and good citizens. AUN offers a complete academic string ranging from elementary, through secondary, to undergraduate to graduate school. The AUN Academy across from the main campus, operates the elementary school, a Charter School, and a high school with American and international tracks. Since 2009, AUN has consistently graduated four classes. Many of these alumni have either enrolled into top graduate schools abroad, taken up jobs in key organizations or have established personal businesses around the country and abroad. AUN has a sprinkle of international students from around the world ranging from UK, USA, Niger Republic, Ghana, Cameroun and Rwanda. SUMMARY OF POSITION:

A Network Engineer is to monitor the cabling structure and devices within the AUN network; ensuring proper functionality of entire system. The Network Engineer also creates and sets up ways in which the network can be configured and managed. This person will help implement, troubleshoot, analyze, and maintain networks in accordance with the standard operating procedures of the University.

DETAILED LISTING OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Install network hardware, cabling structure, and software for network.
Tests, monitors, and maintain cabling structure environment
Tests, monitors, and maintain wireless controllers and access points
Install and maintain network services.
Oversee network security.
Manages back-up of configurations of network devices and restoration
Perform troubleshooting, analysis of connectivity between servers, workstations and Internet cloud.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented network
Document changes of configuration and maintenance of network structure for future reference.
Monitors system performance.
Obtain and maintain required certifications
Perform other duties assigned by his supervisors

Requirements for the position:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar from a recognized tertiary institution with at least 1 (one) year of relevant job experience.
Certifications: MCSE, CCNA, CCNA
Certification in CCNP, CCSP, CCDP is preferable
Advanced knowledge of cabling structured network.
Operating Systems knowledge: Windows, Cisco IOS, Linux family
Hands-on experience implementing and administrating Cisco network equipment: switches, routers, firewalls, network protocols, VoIP., Wireless Access Points and WLAN Controllers
Demonstrable level of competence including:
A thorough understanding of the network technology and protocols
A practical level of experience implementing and administrating common
TCP/IP-based and other services
Working knowledge of common network monitoring and security utilities
Troubleshooting focused on determining hardware vs. software, network vs. application/systems
Ability to prioritize and multitask
Strong analytical abilities and professional office experience needed.
Willingness to learn new technologies and maintain industry knowledge
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to lift, carry, and move network equipment and other ancillary equipment.
