The Confederation of African Football (CAF) was founded in 1957 by four nations: Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia and South Africa. As the administrative body of the region, CAF manages competitions, offers technical and administrative training courses while actively fostering the promotion and practice of football. The Confederation organizes championships such as the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN or AFCON), the most popular competition. It maintains very close links with FIFA in coordinating tournaments for different events such as the World Cup, Youth and Women competitions and the Olympic Games Football Tournaments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain the organization's computer networks, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks. Ensure network availability, performance, and scalability to meet business requirements.
  • Develop and implement security measures to protect the organization's network infrastructure, systems, and data from unauthorized access, vulnerabilities, and threats. This includes managing firewalls, intrusion detection systems, access controls, and encryption technologies.
  • Monitor network performance, identify and resolve network issues, and conduct regular network assessments to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Respond to network security incidents and perform forensic analysis as required.
  • Define and enforce network and security policies, standards, and procedures in compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Regularly update and communicate policies to employees to ensure adherence to security practices.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities, assess potential threats, and recommend appropriate security controls and countermeasures. Develop and maintain incident response plans and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and internal security policies. Coordinate and participate in security audits and assessments, addressing any identified vulnerabilities or non-compliance issues.
  • Assist in developing and managing the network and security budget. Identify resource requirements, assess technology needs, and make recommendations for network and security infrastructure upgrades or enhancements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and management, to align network and security initiatives with business goals. Communicate network and security-related updates, risks, and strategies to stakeholders, executives, and employees.

Requirements (Profile)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional).
  • 8-10 years of experience in network administration and security management.
  • 1-3 years of experience in the sports industry or event management.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in designing, implementing, and managing complex network infrastructures, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, routing, switching, and network security technologies.
  • Proficiency in network security tools, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and vulnerability assessment tools.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, or CIS Controls.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and experience in identifying, assessing, and mitigating network and security risks.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements and experience in implementing security measures to ensure compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve network issues and security incidents.
  • Ability to perform network troubleshooting and forensic analysis to identify the root cause of security breaches or network problems.
  • Experience in evaluating, selecting, and managing relationships with network and security vendors.
  • Proactive attitude towards staying updated with emerging network technologies, security threats, and industry best practices.
  • Participation in relevant professional development activities, such as attending conferences, webinars, and obtaining certifications.
