Job Overview:

  • The Open Source Development Community Manager will play a crucial role in nurturing and growing our open source community.
  • This position involves engaging with developers, fostering contributions, and maintaining the vibrant ecosystem around our open source projects.
  • The ideal candidate will act as a bridge between the company and the external developer community, ensuring collaborative progress and innovation in our health technology initiatives.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop and implement strategies to grow and engage the open source developer community.
  • Organize and manage community events, including hackathons, meetups, and webinars.
  • Facilitate communication between the community and internal teams to gather feedback and drive improvements.
  • Create and maintain documentation for community engagement processes and open source project guidelines.
  • Monitor and analyze community activity to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Support developers in resolving conflicts and navigating the project’s governance structure.
  • Encourage diversity and inclusion within the community to foster a welcoming environment.
  • Manage the moderation of community forums and social media channels to maintain a positive community environment.
  • Develop and oversee mentorship programs to help new contributors successfully integrate into the community.
  • Liaise with marketing to promote community events and successes.
  • Track and report on community engagement metrics and insights.
  • Facilitate open source contributions and reviews, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Develop community recognition and reward systems to incentivize contributions.
  • Coordinate with legal and compliance teams to manage copyright, licensing, and other legal issues.
  • Maintain an active presence in key online and offline platforms relevant to the open source community.
  • Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of new community members.
  • Lead community advocacy efforts to promote the adoption of our open source projects.
  • Regularly update stakeholders on community health and project statuses.
  • Advocate for community needs and priorities within the company.
  • Ensure consistent company messaging across community interactions.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience in community management or developer relations, particularly in open source environments.
  • Strong understanding of open source software development processes and ecosystem.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate large-scale community events.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to mediate disputes.
  • Familiarity with social media, forums, and other communication tools.
  • Knowledge of programming languages and development tools used in the company's projects.
