About the job

  • The top accountabilities include: Delivery of quality end-to-end Telecoms / Data network solutions, including the design, review, and implementation of the systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Experience in the design of IT/Telecommunications systems LAN/WAN, CCTV, Intruder Detection System, Access Control, Public Address and General Alarms (PAGA) system, PABX/LLEIP telephony Voice services, microwave radio links, Structured Office Cabling, Inter- and Intra-site cabling (Copper and Fibre Optics) and TETRA communications system
  • The successful candidate should be knowledgeable enough to support the Telecommunications Lead to evaluate and review IT/Telecoms deliverables from pre-DG3 to Operate phases of Capital projects, in guiding contractors to comply with Shell design standards.
  • The Telecommunications Engineer should be able to supervise Telecommunications sub-contractor personnel in the installation (deployment, commissioning, and handover) of systems, ensuring that they comply with HSE requirements, as well as Shell Telecommunications installation standards.
  • The successful candidate will provide interface for Telecommunications sub-contractor to other disciplines to ensure seamless provision of inputs to and from them, as will be required.
  • The successful candidate must have experience on Projects to Asset (P2A/OR&A) processes as having knowledge of such systems will enable him/her to guide the integration into existing systems by relevant (existing and new) Telecommunications sub-contractors.
  • The successful Telecommunications Engineer will provide day-to-day support for Construction site Telecommunications supporting the project, while also engaging with the Telecommunications sub-contractor personnel managing the sites (camp, worksites, right of way, etc.) for all hardware and all other non-Shell Telecommunications systems supporting the project team.
  • The successful candidate should have experience in deploying and testing the following Telecommunications systems that are part of the standard IT/Telecommunications package – LAN/WAN (Cisco, Aruba, wired and wireless, etc.), CCTV (Genetec, Bosch and Axis based), Intruder Detection System (IDS, Optasense based), Access Control, Public Address and General Alarms (PAGA) system (currently Bosch based), Voice services (currently Alcatel based - PABX, LLE, IP Telephony, etc.), microwave radio links (currently Aviat based systems), Structured Office Cabling, Inter- and Intra-site cabling (Copper and Fibre Optics) and TETRA (currently Motorola based).
  • As this role relies on Contractors for execution, the successful candidate should have demonstrable Contractor management skills to be able to engage with contractors and ensure their deliverable comply with contract Scope of Work.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage Oil and Gas IT HSE mode of operations, processes and requirements.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree holder in <Engineering or Computer Science
  • Minimum of Eight (8) years’ experience within the last five (5) years in Telecommunication System requirements, specification, design, installation, testing, commissioning, and handover in a multi-disciplinary environment, preferably within SCiN or any other IOC/LOC.
  • Experience in working with IEC, IEEE, ITU, BICSI and TIA/EIA codes and standards
