Candlelight Foundation for Children with Special Needs is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering children with special needs, particularly those diagnosed with Autism, Dyslexia, and ADHD. We are committed to providing support, resources, and opportunities for these children to thrive.
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Screenwriter to help us tell stories that inspire, educate, and advocate for children with special needs. This role involves crafting emotionally compelling scripts for short films, documentaries, or digital content that highlight the experiences, challenges, and triumphs of children with disabilities and the communities that support them.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop original screenplays or adapt real-life stories into scripts for video content.
- Collaborate with our digital and program teams to shape narratives aligned with our mission.
- Write scripts that are clear, emotionally engaging, and respectful of the lived experiences of children with special needs.
- Revise and refine scripts based on team feedback and project needs.
- Ensure content is culturally sensitive and aligned with our values of inclusion, dignity, and empowerment.
Requirements:
- Strong storytelling skills with proven experience in screenwriting (portfolio or samples required).
- Deep empathy and understanding of themes related to disability, education, and advocacy.
- Ability to write for visual media—understanding pacing, character voice, and emotional arcs.
- Familiarity with screenwriting software (e.g., Final Draft, Celtx, or equivalent).
- A collaborative mindset and openness to feedback.
