Bosak Microfinance Bank Limited was incorporated in December 2009 with the business objective of providing financial service to micro clients who were excluded from the mainstream financial system.
Responsibilities
- Provides expert advice to Management on IT service delivery and manages the overall IT budget from a planning and governance perspective.
- Develops, implements, and ensures compliance with IT governance policies, processes, and procedures.
- Monitors IT security programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies to reduce risks and audit findings.
- Reviews and tracks all exceptions related to Technology from risk and audit reports, coordinating with internal IT teams to develop and implement remediation plans (via the IT Compliance Dashboard).
- Ensures effective documentation and maintenance of the Bank’s IT asset inventory as a key input for the IT risk register.
- Coordinates IT audit support and ensures compliance with regulatory examinations and investigations.
- Conducts periodic reviews of IT departmental job profiles and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure alignment with current operations.
- Develops and maintains IT continuity frameworks to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
- Designs and conducts periodic internal surveys to assess and improve IT service performance.
- Collaborates with business units to understand evolving IT requirements and translate them into actionable technology strategies.
- Reviews and updates Technology SWOT analysis quarterly to propose enhancements to policies, internal controls, and IT operations.
User Support:
- Set up employee credentials and access in banking applications and email servers.
- Train staff on the use of Banking software and computer systems.
- Diagnose and resolve software issues within the banking application.
- Perform End-of-Day, End-of-Month, and End-of-Year processes.
- Conduct regular data backup and restoration processes.
- Handle SQL database administration.
- Manage IT security infrastructure and devices.
- Prepare documentation (memos, reports, subscription letters, minutes, etc.).
- Maintain accurate documentation and filing of IT assets and contracts (SLAs, receipts, etc.).
- Liaise with IT vendors, software providers, ISPs, and other external tech partners.
- Monitor, order, and distribute IT equipment and supplies.
- Manage the Bank’s SMS portal and error log documentation.
- Handle hardware setup, maintenance, and repairs (printers, laptops, copiers, etc.).
- Ensure security of systems through regular malware/virus scans.
- Maintain and troubleshoot the Bank’s Local Area Network (LAN) and communication infrastructure (IP Phones, routers, switches, etc.).
- Analyze and respond to audit findings, ensuring timely resolution with IT support teams.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a financial institution (required).
- Solid experience in IT system design, development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Working knowledge of server administration, network systems, and computer maintenance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server, stress testing, and relevant programming/database environments.
- Familiarity with ISO standards (20000, 27001, and 22301).
- Hands-on experience in IT infrastructure, network administration, and IT project delivery.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficient in data center management and IT operations documentation.
