Job Summary

The Social Media Manager will be responsible for planning, creating, managing, and optimising The News Chronicle’s social media presence to increase readership, engagement, brand visibility, and website traffic.

Key Responsibilities

Content Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement a monthly social media content calendar aligned with editorial priorities.
  • Source and post daily relevant content that can attract engagement and visibility.
  • Translate breaking news, features, and opinion pieces into engaging social media formats or infographics.
  • Write compelling captions tailored to each platform.
  • Work closely with editors and reporters to identify high-impact stories for promotion.
  • Support promotional campaigns, special reports, interviews, and live coverage.
  • Manage live updates during major events (elections, breaking news, interviews).
  • Stay updated on industry trends, social media tools, and platform updates.

Audience Growth & Engagement

  • Increase followers and engagement through strategic posting and interaction on all platforms.
  • Respond to comments and messages professionally and promptly.
  • Moderate discussions to maintain brand integrity.

Analytics & Performance Tracking

  • Track/Monitor key metrics (reach, engagement, followers, Website traffic from social media), analyse results, and generate reports to optimise future campaigns.
  • Submit weekly and monthly performance reports.
  • Recommend improvements based on data insights.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a social media manager or in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of all the social media platforms.
  • Proficient in graphic design and video editing for social content.
