Job Summary:

The Technical Security Engineer (Security Analyst) is responsible for the design, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of physical and digital security technologies across the company’s critical infrastructure. This role plays a key part in threat detection, vulnerability management, and the secure operation of access control, surveillance, and networked security systems in an oil and gas environment. The position combines hands-on engineering expertise with security analysis to mitigate risks and ensure system integrity.

Key Responsibilities:Physical/Technical Security:

  • Design, implement, and maintain electronic security systems (CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion Detection, Perimeter Protection, Alarm Systems).
  • Monitor and troubleshoot system performance and coordinate maintenance or upgrades.
  • Conduct technical site surveys and system audits to ensure compliance and functionality.
  • Work with integrators and vendors to deliver secure physical security infrastructure projects.
  • Ensure all systems align with global oil and gas security standards and local regulations.

Cybersecurity/Network Security (if applicable):

  • Analyze security logs and system activity to identify and respond to security threats or anomalies.
  • Monitor and manage technical security tools such as SIEMs, firewalls, and intrusion prevention systems (IPS).
  • Support incident response, threat intelligence, and vulnerability assessments of OT/IT networks.
  • Collaborate with IT, HSE, and Operations teams on industrial control system (ICS) security initiatives.

General:

  • Provide technical support during investigations and audits.
  • Maintain documentation, asset inventories, SOPs, and training materials related to security technologies.
  • Stay up to date on emerging security technologies, best practices, and industry-specific threats.

Key Requirements:

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • Relevant certifications: CCNA Security, CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP (for cyber side); or Lenel, Honeywell, Genetec, Milestone (for physical security systems).
  • Vendor certifications in specific systems (e.g., Avigilon, Axis, Gallagher, etc.) are a plus.

Experience:

  • 3–7 years of experience in technical security engineering, preferably in energy, oil and gas, or critical infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with design and deployment of physical security systems.
  • Experience working in a hybrid security role (physical + cyber) is a strong advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and system integration skills.
  • Good understanding of network protocols, IP-based systems, and control room architecture.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and system schematics.
  • Awareness of cyber-physical risks in OT/ICS environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, reporting, and documentation skills.
