Job Summary
- We are seeking a skilled Windows Server Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our Windows-based server infrastructure.
- This role will also involve executing server migrations to newer platforms, cloud environments, and managing containerized applications using Docker.
- The ideal candidate should have experience in Windows Server administration, virtualization, migration, Docker containers, and cloud technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server operating systems (2016, 2019, 2022).
- Plan and execute server migrations (physical-to-virtual, virtual-to-virtual, and on-premises to cloud migrations such as Azure or AWS).
- Administer and configure Active Directory (AD), Group Policy (GPO), DNS, DHCP, and other core Windows services.
- Manage and maintain Docker containers, including container orchestration, image management, and deployment on Windows environments.
- Ensure the security, compliance, and performance of servers through proactive monitoring, patch management, and best practices.
- Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- Automate routine tasks, server configuration, and container management using PowerShell and other scripting tools.
- Manage virtualized environments using Hyper-V and VMware, along with containerized applications using Docker.
- Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to deploy, configure, and support business applications, databases, and network infrastructure.
- Monitor and troubleshoot server and container performance, resolve issues, and ensure high availability.
- Document all server configurations, migration processes, container workflows, and recovery strategies.
- Provide technical support to end-users and IT teams regarding server and containerized application issues.
- Stay updated with new technologies, Docker container best practices, and security vulnerabilities.
Qualifications & Skills
- 6+ years of experience in Windows Server administration and migration projects.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and NTFS permissions.
- Experience with server migration techniques and cloud migration (on-premises to cloud, and hybrid environments).
- Hands-on experience with Docker containers for deployment, scaling, and management.
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and configuration.
- Experience with virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, VMware).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and container orchestration tools (Kubernetes, Docker Swarm) is a plus.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VPNs, firewalls, load balancing).
- Experience in backup and disaster recovery strategies (Veeam, Acronis, Windows Backup).
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
- Certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, or Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate are a plus.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with Docker orchestration and container management tools (Kubernetes, Docker Compose).
- Familiarity with cloud-native applications and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with Windows Server clustering and high-availability solutions.
- Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance in containerized and cloud environments.
