About the Role
- The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is in charge of a company’s information technology and computer systems with duties including assessing current processes, recommending software upgrades, and directing the executive team on the best processes. Also, the role is responsible for directing teams that manage the Core Banking Platform, Agency Banking Platform, Payments Platform, ERP, Channels platform, etc to streamline all internal operations and help optimize their strategic benefits.
Responsibilities
- Direct and organize IT-related projects.
- Monitor changes or advancements in technology to discover ways the company can gain competitive advantage.
- Analyze the costs, value and risks of information technology to advise management and suggest actions.
- Prepare the plan of IT activities to ensure effective and continued IT support for the Bank's strategic plans in the country.
- Provide leadership role in the design and implementation of the IT systems and architectures for better performance and high availability.
- Evaluate the IT systems against business needs, both present and future, and recommend cost effective viable solutions.
- Develop plans for migration of technologies to support necessary future directions.
- Plan, prepare and monitor the IT Security Budget in line with the business strategy.
- Work with the local compliance manager, business management and Head office teams to understand, analyze, articulate and address the local regulatory/compliance requirements.
- Review IT policies and provide country specific addendums to address the local regulatory and business requirements.
- Adopt and adapt IT processes and standards to address the business needs.
- In coordination with the IT Security team, manage and deliver the regulatory, audit, governance and risk related initiatives in the country and timely clear all outstanding open audit issues.
- Regularly report to the CEO and Management the key risks, major incidents, key changes, audit observations status, regulatory compliance and policy requirements.
- Work with various stakeholders in the country and HO and set priorities to the implementation and roll out of IT Services in the country.
- A local IT to-do priority list should be maintained and shared with local management and HO IT.
- Provide recommendations on sourcing decisions impacting IT Services.
- Follow up with all external vendors and suppliers of IT related items and components and ensure that all procured in time with competitive quotations and seeking necessary approvals as per Group IT procurement policies.
- Act as the main escalation point within IT for risks and issues concerning the local IT Services.
- Monitor the efficiency of service provided by the vendors and initiate appropriate actions.
- Regularly monitor and report the KPIs and Dashboard of IT Services to ensure alignment with SLAs and minimize deviations.
- Provide management and direction for the local IT Team including: Setting priorities, coordinating work efforts, and reporting.
- Review the status of projects impacting the country and provide recommendations.
- Provide technical support and consultancy, when required.
- Play and maintain the role of business partnership as stated in the IT Governance Guidelines.
