She Code Africa is a registered non-profit organisation empowering girls and women across Africa with technical and soft skills needed to match or scale their careers in STEM With a mission to bring in more girls and women in Africa into technology through our offline hands-on-training and events focused on all aspects of technology while also giving a platform and voice to existing members helping them grow technically.

About the job

  • We’re searching for a highly motivated and experienced Community associate to join our team.
  • The role will play a vital part in driving growth around our community initiatives, building and engaging our ever-growing community of girls and women in technology across Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute community engagement strategies to increase participation and retention of community members
  • Build and manage our hybrid communities through the community platform, events, and other engagement channels
  • Work alongside team to implement community-building initiatives, such as meetups, webinars, and hackathons, making adjustments where necessary to ensure successful delivery
  • Actively engage and respond to community feedback and questions in ample time
  • Co-Lead planning and execution of community events and initiatives targeted at community members
  • Identify and track key metrics to measure community engagement and success
  • Efficiently interpret data and insights from community to advance engagement strategies
  • Collaborate with other organizations and stakeholders to promote She Code Africa and its mission
  • Work with a cross-functional team to deliver community focused projects and programs on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of stakeholders, while driving growth & expansion.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in community management or a related field
  • Passion for technology education and social impact
  • Experience working with pan-african developer communities, a plus working with women-in-tech focused communities
  • Strong understanding of hybrid developer community building and engagement strategies
  • Strong community management skills, including experience with project & program planning, budgeting, resource allocation and proficiency in community data & insights interpretation
  • Strong content writing content management skills
  • Strong proficiency in G-suite
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity or experience working with or in non-profit organizations is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in English is required
