The Company is seeking to hire a dedicate and result-oriented Head, Fiber Optics Services that would play a pivotal role in driving the strategic direction and operational excellence of the fiber optics division within the company.
The Head, Fiber Optics Servies will be responsible for designing and overseeing the planning, implementation, and maintenance of fiber optic networks. S/he will be leading a team of professionals to ensure seamless connectivity and optimal performance of telecommunications services. You are expected to deliver on group’s commitment by implementing world class network services and ensure service metrics that delivers high network uptime.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for our fiber optics service business, aligned with company objectives and market trends.
- Drive business growth by identifying new opportunities, expanding service offerings, and entering new markets.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and regulatory agencies.
Operational Management:
- Oversee all aspects of fiber optics service operations, including planning, design, deployment, and maintenance of fiber optic networks.
- Lead a team of fiber optics engineers, technicians, and project managers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure operational excellence.
- Monitor and optimize service delivery processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Implement best practices, standards, and quality assurance protocols to ensure the reliability and performance of fiber optic networks.
Outside Plant Strategy:
- Provide leadership for developing and implementing network projects, rollout and deployment of service infrastructure in line with the business requirements to meet the short, medium- and long-term operational requirements.
- Manage all Technical and Financial aspect of Project Implementation and interface the optical transmission network with Core and Access network.
- Drive network expansion initiatives to ensure subscribers growth (Net Additions) and good data throughput.
- Oversee the timely deployment of world class network solutions.
- Liaise with regulatory body for ROW
Project Management:
- Roll out of agreed network infrastructure projects
- Implement and monitor timely delivery and report of multiple contractors and vendors.
- Implement optical network connectivity for Enterprise, Wholesale & Retail Business roll out.
- Manage the Implementation of all projects that support optical fiber access and transmission.
- Develop and maintain a detailed project schedule and provide project support for optical network projects.
- Evaluate project requirements and coordinate resources according to project plan.
Drive prompt capitalization of projects.
- Track and monitor project budget and ensure spending remains within limit
- Review of project designs proposals from various vendors.
- Design, implement, integrate and operate projects for Telecom data/voice network.
- Identify and eliminate bottleneck and risk in projects
- Manage change process and communicate progress of the projects to relevant project stakeholder.
- Ensure capacity deployed on OFC meet the service requirements.
OFC Capacity Planning:
- Conduct route selection and capacity planning for Optical Network Design.
- Conduct demand prognosis which includes frequency volume, location and duration of usage of the group services.
- Anticipate future customer demand for business services.
- Forecast future demand based on known information such as patterns of business activity or consumption trends and service quality feedback from the customer.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Provide updated project status report to all stakeholders
- Provide updated status on performance of Transmission links while taking remedial actions where necessary.
- Gather, analyze, and integrate interface utilization using Network Management Tools and standard Project management tools
- Analyze project progress and coordinate further progress procedures and requirements with contractors.
- Analyze & report resource usage- capacity & demand.
- Track and document project changes.
People Management

Requirements
Educational Qualifications & Functional / Technical Skills:
- First degree in Electrical, Communication Engineering or related field.
- Certified Project Manager (PMP or PRINCE2).
- Experience and Knowledge in Fiber Optic Technology.
- Technical Site survey.
- Skilled in Fiber optic cable Installation
- Installation of new cable lines both underground and overhead
- Skill in using of optical fiber test equipment and tools for installation and fault location
- Advance Network Operations & Commissioning knowledge
- Contract Management and Negotiation
- Stakeholder Relations Management.
- Good knowledge of GIS Planning tools.
Relevant Experience:
- 10 years’ work experience comprising of Telecoms Environment & Mobile Transmission Network Installation. At least 5 years in Supervisory/ Management Position.
