Job Summary
The ICT Specialist will manage the organisation’s information and communication technology systems, ensuring efficiency, security, and reliability across all operations. He/she will provide technical support, maintain ICT infrastructure, and ensure data protection and compliance with organisational and donor standards.
The role also supports digital transformation initiatives and promotes effective use of technology to enhance organisational performance.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the organisation’s hardware, software, and network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
- Oversee installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of computer systems, servers, and network devices.
- Ensure data security, system backups, and disaster recovery procedures are in place and regularly tested.
- Provide timely technical support to staff on hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Maintain a helpdesk system to log, track, and resolve ICT-related requests efficiently.
- Conduct user training and awareness sessions on ICT tools, cybersecurity, and best practices.
- Implement and monitor ICT security protocols to safeguard data, systems, and communication channels.
- Regularly update antivirus, firewalls, and other protective software to mitigate security threats.
- Ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality policies in line with organisational and donor standards.
- Support the development and enforcement of ICT policies, procedures, and usage guidelines.
- Monitor adherence to ICT standards and recommend updates in response to emerging technologies.
- Ensure alignment of ICT operations with donor and organisational compliance requirements.
- Innovation and Systems Improvement
- Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency through technology-driven solutions.
- Research and recommend new tools or systems that improve communication, data management, and workflow automation.
- Support digital transformation initiatives and integration of new platforms across departments.
- Manage relationships with ICT service providers, vendors, and consultants to ensure quality and cost-effective services.
- Maintain an updated inventory of ICT assets and ensure proper tagging, maintenance, and replacement planning.
- Oversee procurement, licensing, and renewal of ICT equipment and software.
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and user manuals.
- Prepare periodic ICT performance and risk reports for management decision-making.
- Track and report on ICT incidents, resolutions, and preventive measures.
Qualifications/Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5–7 years of professional experience in ICT systems administration, network management, or IT support within NGOs, development organisations, or similar institutions.
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Proven experience managing ICT infrastructure, databases, and cloud-based systems.
- Familiarity with data protection standards and ICT compliance requirements in donor-funded projects.
- Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux environments, Office 365, and network troubleshooting tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and support non-technical staff.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and commitment to maintaining secure and reliable ICT systems.
