Job Overview
The IT Security Support Officer will be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of the organization’s IT systems and networks. This role involves monitoring, managing, and responding to security threats, implementing security protocols, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge in IT security tools, network monitoring, and endpoint protection, along with problem-solving skills to ensure a secure and resilient IT environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor network and system activity for security breaches or anomalies
- Respond to security incidents and escalate issues as needed
- Implement and maintain firewalls, antivirus, endpoint protection, and intrusion detection systems
- Manage user access controls, authentication, and permissions
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and risk analysis of IT infrastructure
- Maintain documentation of security incidents, resolutions, and system changes
- Collaborate with IT, operations, and compliance teams to enforce security policies
- Assist in audits, regulatory compliance checks, and security reporting
- Provide guidance and training to staff on cybersecurity best practices
Technical Competencies
- Knowledge of firewalls and VPNs
- Strong knowledge of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Single Sign-On (SSO), and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
- Experience with security monitoring tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS)
- Expertise in network security and endpoint protection
- Knowledge of Active Directory and identity/access management
- Understanding of Windows Server and Office 365 security configurations
- Awareness of cloud security principles (Azure, AWS) is an advantage
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP (associate), or CISM are an advantage
