Job Summary
- The IT Support & Data Entry Officer will provide technical support and ensure the smooth operation of all information technology systems within Tolbert Specialists Hospital. The role involves maintaining computer systems, managing electronic medical records (EMR), performing regular data entry and system updates, and ensuring confidentiality of patient and hospital data. The officer will also assist in troubleshooting IT issues, performing system maintenance, and supporting digital documentation processes across departments.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support
- Provide first-level technical support to hospital staff for computers, printers, EMR systems, and other IT-related issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, and network peripherals.
- Monitor and maintain local area networks (LAN), internet connections, and server functionality.
- Perform routine system checks, antivirus updates, and data backups to prevent data loss.
- Ensure timely updates of hospital software systems (EMR, HR, accounting, and laboratory systems).
- Maintain an accurate inventory of IT equipment and software licenses.
- Support the implementation of hospital IT policies, cybersecurity measures, and user access protocols.
Data Entry & Management
- Accurately input and update patient data, staff records, and hospital reports in digital systems.
- Verify, organize, and maintain data to ensure accuracy and integrity.
- Support digitization of medical records and manage safe storage of confidential information.
- Generate periodic data and performance reports for management.
- Maintain compliance with data protection laws and hospital confidentiality policies.
System Administration
- Assist in managing hospital servers, databases, and electronic communication systems.
- Create and manage user accounts, passwords, and access permissions.
- Collaborate with external IT service providers when major maintenance or upgrades are required.
- Support configuration of staff emails and ensure secure communication within departments.
- Provide basic IT training and support to non-technical staff as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- OND, HND, or B.Sc. in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- 1–3 years of experience in IT support, preferably in a healthcare or similar environment.
- Knowledge of computer hardware, networking, and server systems.
- Experience with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or hospital management software is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and database management.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with medical and non-medical staff.
