Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. /ˈwÉ‘ËËŒweɪ/ is a Chinese multinational networking and telecommunications equipment and services company headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong. It is the largest telecommunications equipment maker in the world, having overtaken Ericsson in 2012. Huawei was founded in 1987 by Ren Zhengfei, a former engineer in the People's Liberation Army. At the time of its establishment Huawei was focused on manufacturing phone switches, but has since expanded its business to include building telecommunications networks; providing operational and consulting services and equipment to enterprises inside and outside of China; and manufacturing communications devices for the consumer market. Huawei has over 140,000 employees, around 46% of whom are engaged in research and development (R&D). It has 21 R&D institutes in countries including China, the United States, Canada, UK, Pakistan, France, Germany, Colombia, Sweden, Ireland, India, Russia, and Turkey, and in 2013 invested US$5 billion in R&D. In 2010, Huawei recorded profit of 23.8 billion CNY (3.7 billion USD). Its products and services have been deployed in more than 140 countries and it currently serves 45 of the world's 50 largest telecoms operators.
Responsibilities:
- Strategy and Planning: Formulate and implement media communication strategies and initiatives in Nigeria, aligning with market objectives and adept crisis management.
- Media Relationship Building: Cultivate and nurture positive relationships with local media professionals across various levels, adapting to the media culture and operational dynamics in Nigeria. Facilitate and assist in media visits, interviews, and events like press conferences. Provide assistance for commercial, media, or corporate-level functions, collaborating with relevant departments for comprehensive media management.
- Content Development: Create and refine media materials, including press releases, company profiles, and spokesperson resumes.
- PR Company Coordination: Collaborate with PR agencies to oversee projects and manage associated budget allocations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree/higher (Marketing, Public Relations, Mass Media, Journalism)
- +3 years of media/PR experience within a PR company.
- Demonstrated proficiency in establishing and sustaining relationships with the media, with a preference for direct personal connections with key media figures.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and rapidly changing work environment.
- Knowledge and experience in Public Relations, Media Affairs Management, and Video Clips/Scripts.
- Overseeing large-scale Brand Marketing, Event Planning, and Crisis Public relations on social media platforms.
- Familiarity with the landscape of mainstream social media in Nigeria and a track record of knowledge and expertise in social media Operations.
- Established connections with Newspapers and Media Organizations are advantageous.
