Job Summary

  • We’re looking for a Social Community & Media Executive to take charge of our storytelling engine and community voice. This person will be the bridge between AltSchool and its learners, creating content, campaigns, and experiences that turn learners into advocates and the brand into a movement. 
  • This role is for someone who doesn’t just use social media but creates culture through it. Someone who understands that community is a growth engine and knows how to spark conversations that move people.

Job Details

Brand Voice & Storytelling

  • Define and maintain AltSchool’s brand voice across social platforms, community spaces, and offline events.
  • Craft narratives that turn learner journeys into compelling, shareable stories.
  • Guide tone, messaging, and storytelling consistency across all campaigns. 
  • Push creative boundaries to make AltSchool feel aspirational, fun, and relatable.

Content Creation & Oversight

  • Lead learner-driven content: testimonials, docuseries, reels, AMAs, and BTS storytelling.
  • Work with the design and innovation team to ensure content is both visually engaging and on-brand.
  • Oversee UGC campaigns and empower learners/ambassadors to create content.

Community Building

  • Grow and manage AltSchool peer circles, ambassadors, and WhatsApp communities.
  • Build strong online/offline communities that encourage interaction, trust, and advocacy.
  • Develop ambassador and peer-leadership programs that fuel organic acquisition.

Engagement & FOMO Campaigns

  • Design campaigns that spark FOMO and learner pride (e.g., challenges, content takeovers, gamified campaigns).
  • Create sticky engagement loops that increase participation, sharing, and advocacy.
  • Turn learners into storytellers who amplify AltSchool’s impact.

Events & Activations

  • Plan and run social-first offline and online events (hackathons, webinars, career meetups).
  • Integrate learner stories into events to deepen emotional connection.
  • Partner with grassroots communities, NGOs, and hubs to scale reach.

Requirements

Must Have

  • Proven experience managing social media storytelling (Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, X).
  • Experience managing community platforms (WhatsApp, Discord, Slack, Telegram, or similar).
  • Strong storytelling instincts, you can turn everyday learner stories into inspiring, viral content.
  • Creative thinker with a bias for action, you take ownership; you create culture.
  • Strong collaboration skills, you can work with design, content, and product teams.

Nice to Have: 

  • Experience running offline/online community events, ambassador programs, or grassroots campaigns.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with edtech, student communities, or youth-driven movements.
