- The objective is to design, implement, and support the network infrastructure for the Instant Issuance Platform, ensuring it meets the highest standards of performance, security, and scalability. The Consultant Infrastructure Network Engineer will be responsible for:
Network Infrastructure Design:
- Assess the platform’s requirements and design the network infrastructure for the datacenter.
- Design a resilient network architecture with a focus on high availability, redundancy, and fintech-grade security.
- Collaborate with the hardware team to integrate physical components (servers, storage) into the network design.
Deployment and Configuration:
- Deploy and configure networking hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Implement network segmentation, VPNs, VLANs, and other necessary configurations to enhance performance and security.
- Ensure the network supports low-latency, high-throughput transactions essential for instant issuance.
Security and Compliance:
- Work closely with the cybersecurity team to ensure the network meets industry standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, ISO 27001).
- Implement security solutions such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, encryption, and access controls.
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian regulatory and financial requirements regarding data privacy and transaction security.
Monitoring and Performance Optimization:
- Set up network monitoring tools to track performance, including uptime, latency, and error rates.
- Regularly review and optimize network performance, addressing any bottlenecks.
- Implement failover and redundancy mechanisms to ensure continuous platform operation.
Troubleshooting and Support:
- Provide level-3 support for network-related issues, ensuring timely resolution to prevent downtime.
- Conduct periodic audits and assessments to identify risks and recommend improvements.
Documentation and Knowledge Transfer:
- Document all network designs, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Conduct training sessions to ensure in-house IT staff are prepared to manage and support the network infrastructure after the consultancy period.
Deliverables:
- A complete network architecture design tailored to the platform’s needs.
- Fully configured and deployed network infrastructure.
- Performance and security optimization reports.

Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related fields.
Certifications:
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent network engineering and security credentials.
Experience:
- At least 6-7 years of experience in network infrastructure, particularly in physical datacenters.
- Experience in the fintech industry or with instant issuance platforms preferred.
- Proven expertise in designing, deploying, and managing large-scale network infrastructure.
- Knowledge of PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, and other fintech-related compliance standards.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in configuring and managing Cisco, Juniper, or similar network devices.
- Strong knowledge of VPNs, VLANs, MPLS, SD-WAN, and advanced network security.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as Nagios, SolarWinds, or similar.
- Experience with automation and scripting tools for network management (e.g., Ansible, Python).
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills to address complex network issues.
Reporting and Supervision:
- The consultant will report to the Head of IT/CTO and collaborate closely with the infrastructure, security, and platform development teams. They will be expected to provide:
- Weekly progress reports.
- Immediate updates on any critical issues or risks.
- End-of-project documentation, including a post-implementation review.
