Description
- The role of the IT/Maintenance Officer is integral to the smooth and successful operation of the school. The job holder will provide technical support required for the smooth running of computer systems, internet facility and the school portal and as well be responsible for the general maintenance of the facilities in the school; ensuring users get maximum benefits from them.
Responsibilities
- Monitors and maintains computer systems and networks
- Installs and configures computer hardware operating systems and applications
- Takes staff through a series of actions and set up systems or resolve issues
- Troubleshoots system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults
- Replaces parts as required and ensures that all computer systems are well protected from virus
- Provides support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports
- Follows diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system
- Sets up new users' accounts and profiles and deals with password issues
- Responds swiftly to issues; works continuously on a task until completion and refers to third parties, if unresolved
- Prioritises and manages cases on the school portal appropriately as the administrator
- Collaborates with staff and software developers to enhance effective school administration
- Conducts electrical safety checks on computer equipment.
- Collaborates with the school leadership to make informed decisions relating to IT
- Collaborates across departments and functional areas that support adoption and implementation of technology in all aspects, including those that improve teaching and learning and promote 21st Century skills
Maintenance Responsibilities
- Schedules and coordinates regular inspections of the school facilities.
- Inspectsbuildings’ structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations
- Review utilities consumption and strive tominimize costs
- Coordinates and/or lead staff training to ensure safety and compliance with child safety policy.
- Responds to immediate safety issues to maintain a functioning educational environment
- Solicit and analyses proposals from contractors to perform various repairs and special maintenance.
- Maintains manual and electronic documents, files and records (inspection records, time sheet, work orders and requisitions, supplies, crisis management data, and security controls) for the purpose of documenting activities and ensuring an up-to-date reference
- Ensures that repairs are completed and approved by the user before final payment can be made
- Presents information logically and responds professionally to questions from colleagues, the school leadership and the Board.
- Communicates clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
- Ensures cost-effectiveness in the course of carrying out expected duties
- Oversees and supervises maintenance technicians or artisans
- Manages the upkeep of equipment to meet health and safety standards
