Job Description
- We are looking for a skilled Network L2 Engineer to provide Level 2 support for our network infrastructure.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing network systems to ensure seamless connectivity and performance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Network Administration and Maintenance:
- Administer and support the organization’s network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Perform network configuration, maintenance, and upgrades to ensure system stability and reliability.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues to maintain high levels of availability.
- Ensure network security by implementing firewall rules, VLANs, and access control policies.
Troubleshooting and Incident Management:
- Provide Level 2 support for network-related incidents, working to resolve issues efficiently and within SLA (Service Level Agreement) timelines.
- Troubleshoot network issues, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless problems, using diagnostic tools.
- Collaborate with Level 1 support for escalated tickets and escalate complex issues to Level 3 or external vendors if necessary.
Network Performance Monitoring and Optimization:
- Utilize monitoring tools to oversee network health, performance, and utilization.
- Identify potential network bottlenecks and implement solutions to optimize performance.
- Conduct periodic audits and capacity planning to support network growth and scalability.
Security and Compliance:
- Implement and enforce network security protocols to protect the organization’s data and assets.
- Support the management of firewall rules, VPN connections, and access controls.
- Assist with compliance activities, including regular audits, vulnerability assessments, and documentation of security practices.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Document network configurations, topology diagrams, incident response actions, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Prepare regular reports on network performance, incident trends, and capacity planning metrics.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all network equipment, including IP addresses, configurations, and maintenance schedules.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in network engineering, with at least 1-2 years in an L2 support role.
- Certifications: CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) or equivalent networking certifications preferred.
Skills and Competencies
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in configuring and managing network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
- Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark, Nagios).
- Experience with VPNs, VLANs, and wireless technologies.
- Basic understanding of network security practices, including firewall configuration and intrusion detection systems.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
