Network Support Engineer’s Job Description
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.
- Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
- Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes.
- Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
- Performing recurring support activities related to end-user workstations, telephony, and software for both local and remote users.
- Break-fix of printing, scanning, server, and desktop hardware.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level support.
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
- Investigating the current IT system, documenting user needs, and recommending improvements.
- Designing system improvements and overseeing implementation.
- Testing and repairing system faults.
- Providing technical guidance and troubleshooting systems.
- Monitoring systems to ensure efficient operation.
- Provide technical support for ongoing system maintenance.
- Perform software inventory, distribution, installation, and license management.
- Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS).
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.
- Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
- Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team.

System/Network Engineer’s Job Requirements
- BSc degree/HND in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Users Support to assist clients on day-to-day in IT related functionality and efficiency.
- Provides IT support for desktops, printers, peripherals, telephone systems, and cellular devices.
- Configures, installs, and maintains complex software systems.
- Identifies, manage, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Responds to customer requests effectively and communicates with them to address issues or escalate internally as required.
- Proven working experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows, UNIX /Linux based environments.
- Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP).
- Manages projects successfully on time and within budget.
- CompTIA A+ and Network+ Certification or equivalent experience is a must.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent English business language skills – both spoken and written.
- Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with a variety of different teams.
- Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box).
- Solid Cloud experience in AWS and Azure.
- Understanding of programming languages such as Javascript, Python, Scala or Java.
