Job description
- The IT Manager is responsible for overseeing all technology operations within the organization, including the maintenance and support of hardware, software, network systems, and IT infrastructure.
- The role also involves regular inventory reporting, conducting staff IT training, and ensuring seamless digital operations to support hospital efficiency and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Hardware Management:
- Ensure all IT hardware (computers, printers, UPS, routers, CCTV, biometrics, etc.) are functional and well-maintained.
- Conduct periodic preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Recommend and oversee upgrades or replacements of outdated equipment.
Software Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain hospital software applications (e.g., EMR, billing, HR, inventory systems).
- Ensure proper software licensing, updates, and security compliance.
- Provide user support and resolve software-related issues promptly.
Networking and Infrastructure:
- Manage LAN/WAN, wireless connectivity, and internet uptime across the facility.
- Monitor network performance, conduct troubleshooting, and coordinate with service providers as necessary.
- Maintain firewalls, switches, and routers for optimal network security.
IT Inventory and Reporting:
- Maintain up-to-date inventory of all IT assets (hardware & software).
- Submit detailed monthly reports on IT inventory status, usage, issues, and recommendations.
- Track and log all IT interventions and service requests.
Staff Training and Support:
- Organize periodic training sessions for staff on IT systems, cybersecurity, and best practices.
- Onboard new staff with IT orientation (email setup, software access, data policies).
- Serve as first-line support for all IT-related queries from staff.
Data Security and Backup:
- Implement data protection strategies, backups, and recovery protocols.
- Monitor for cybersecurity threats and enforce IT policies.
- Ensure confidentiality and integrity of patient and administrative data.
Vendor and Contract Management:
- Liaise with IT vendors and service providers for equipment procurement, repairs, and services.
- Ensure SLAs (Service Level Agreements) are met by external IT support partners.
Key Skills & Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT management (preferably in healthcare).
- Strong knowledge of hardware systems, networking, and enterprise software.
- Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
- Familiarity with data protection laws and hospital information systems is an advantage.
