What is project management?

Project management involves the planning and organization of a company's resources to move a specific task, event, or duty toward completion. It is the application of processes, methods, skills, knowledge and experience to achieve specific project objectives according to the project acceptance criteria within agreed parameters.

It is often associated with fields in engineering and information technology (IT) which have complex sets of components that have to be assembled to create a functioning product. But no matter the industry and field, project managers have the same job: to help define the goals and objectives of the project and determine when the various project components are to be completed and by whom. They also create quality control checks to ensure completed components meet a certain standard.

  5. Get Certifications in Project Management: You can also get certifications in project management to further establish you as a credible project manager. Online courses or degree programs will help you become a certified project manager and increase your chances of being hired by a reputable firm.
